Patisserie CoCo Chinatown Montreal

Pâtisserie Coco

Pâtisserie Coco is the most popular bakery in Montreal's Chinatown, located at 2 Rue de la Gauchetière O. It is less than a five-minute walk from Metro Place d'Armes. Since opening in 2019, Pâtisserie Coco has become a favorite among both locals and visitors. They offer a variety of items, including buns, breads, cakes, bubble tea, hot egg tarts, and more. Additionally, Pâtisserie Coco provides fresh fruit cakes for any occasion.

When you arrive at Pâtisserie Coco, you will need to grab a tray and clips to start your dessert journey. The selection is very overwhelming, as all of the items look delicious. There are several wrapped items, such as slicked cake, rice crispies, and sweet breads.

Some of the classics sold are custard buns, BBQ pork buns, mochi, flaky pastries, and cheesecake. You can walk away with tonnes of goodies for less than $20.

The dessert that truly impressed me was the egg tart. I’ve never been a big fan of egg tarts until I tried the ones at Pâtisserie Coco. They offer two varieties, and I preferred the one that closely resembles a Portuguese nata. While the flavor wasn't identical, it was still quite enjoyable. Each egg tart was incredibly affordable. To maintain their freshness, the egg tarts are kept in a heated oven, which enhances both their flavor and texture.

I highly recommend Pâtisserie Coco and rate it a solid 8/10. They offer a wide selection of baked goods at very affordable prices. The staff is helpful when needed, as Pâtisserie Coco allows each customer to choose their own dessert, creating a "serve yourself" atmosphere. The store is inviting and tends to be quite crowded on weekdays, thanks to the high volume of tourists in the city. It’s the perfect dessert shop to visit after enjoying a nice dinner in Chinatown Montreal.
