Bar Caffettiera Montreal Review | Italian Coffee & Pastries
Caffettiera (Moka Coffee Pot in Italian) is a 90s-inspired Italian bar in Montreal’s Golden Square Mile.
If you're looking for authentic Italian coffee in downtown Montreal, Bar Caffettiera is a café worth visiting. Located on Stanley Street in the Golden Square Mile, this unique coffee bar brings a lively atmosphere to the heart of downtown. The Golden Square Mile area is close to Peel and McGill College. It is also within walking distance of several downtown attractions, shops, and restaurants.
I recently visited Bar Caffettiera and was immediately drawn to its distinctive 1990s-inspired decor and energetic atmosphere. The colorful retro design gives the café plenty of personality, while the espresso bar concept creates a lively environment that feels different from many of the quieter cafés around Downtown Montreal. During the visit, we tried their legendary coffee and sampled several of the pastries. The coffee had a rich flavor, and the pastries were a highlight of the visit.

Italian Coffee and Pastries at Bar Caffettiera
The menu is on full display at Bar Caffettiera, making it easy to see the available options before ordering. I ordered the cappuccino, and it was one of the highlights of my visit. The flavour was rich and smooth, and I especially enjoyed how well it paired with the pistachio cream cookie.
If you love pistachios, I definitely recommend giving the cookie a try. The pistachio flavour comes through nicely, while the cream adds a rich texture without making the dessert overly sweet. It was a delicious combination with the cappuccino.
The combination of Italian-style coffee and delicious pastries makes Bar Caffettiera a great place to stop for a morning coffee, an afternoon treat, or a casual meet-up with friends.
My Overall Experience
I had a very enjoyable experience at Bar Caffettiera and would happily return. The coffee was excellent, the pastries were delicious, and the unique 90s-inspired interior gave the café plenty of personality. I particularly enjoyed visiting with friends because it gave us the opportunity to try several pastries together while enjoying our coffee.
The friendly service was another positive part of the experience. I never felt rushed to place my order, and the staff took the time to explain some of the ingredients in the pastries we selected. I appreciated their patience and willingness to answer our questions, which made the experience feel welcoming and relaxed.
Is Bar Caffettiera Worth Visiting?
Yes. I would recommend Bar Caffettiera if you enjoy Italian coffee, pastries, and lively cafés with a distinctive atmosphere.
It may not be the best choice if you're looking for a very quiet place to work on a laptop. The café is known for its energetic atmosphere and limited seating, so I would approach it more as a place to enjoy coffee, food, and conversation rather than a traditional work café.
For me, the combination of good coffee, delicious pastries, and the unique Italian-inspired setting made Bar Caffettiera a memorable Downtown Montreal café experience.
